KAYA FC-Iloilo and United City FC capped off their campaign in the 2021 AFC Champions League with defeats on Sunday night.

Kaya FC was nipped by Vietnam titlist Viettel FC, 1-0, at the LEO Stadium in Bangkok, as United FC was defeated by Korea side Daegu FC, 4-0, at the Lokomotiv Stadium in Tashkent during the close of their first-ever appearance in the ACL.

Caique knocked in the lone goal of the as Viettel FC in the 57th minute as Kaya ended the competition winless in six matches in Group F.

Tsubasa Nishi (37th), Lee Keun-Ho (48th), Edgar (58th), and Jung Chi-In (73rd) scored for Daegu FC to formally clinch the second spot in Group I and advance to the round-of-16.

UCFC ends up with four points

UCFC became the first Philippine club to win the AFC Champions League competition after it defeated Beijing FC, 3-2, last July 8.

The reigning Philippines Football League champion also garnered the first point for the Philippines in the ACL following a 1-1 draw against Beijing FC last June 26.

Marwin Angeles, meanwhile, knocked in the first goal by a Filipino in the AFC Champions League during Kaya FC’s 4-1 loss against BG Pathum United last June 26.
