Azkals skipper Stephan Schrock parted ways with United City FC (UCFC) following a long, colorful stint in the Philippine Football League (PFL).

In a shocking development, UCFC announced the early termination of Schrock’s contract and thanked him for his contributions to its success.

The development, however, comes at a time that the club is deep in its preparation for the 2022 Copa Paulino Alcantara and the 2022 AFC Champions League.

“UCFC would like to announce the departure of captain Stephan Schrock after mutually agreeing on an early termination of his contract,” the club said in a social media post late Friday.

“Stephan has been instrumental in UCFC’s winning of the 2020 Philippine Football League and the recording of the first-ever win of any football club on the AFC Champions League group stage level.”

Schrock’s exit is the latest high-profile departure from the club.

UCFC lost Bienvenido Marañon a few months ago to Johor Darul Ta’zim FC and defender Justin Baas to Melaka United.

UCFC, however, tapped Azkals Development Team alumni Mathew Custodio, Ivan Ouano, and Tajikistani midfielder Amirbek Juraboev to help it in extending its dominance in the domestic league and boost its performance in in the AFC Champions League.

Schrock, however, has yet to announce his next stop.

“UCFC will now take this opportunity to build the Club’s winning football philosophy, with identifying and developing local talents at its heart,” the club said.

“Once again, the club would like to thank Stephan for his contributions to UCFC and wish him all the best on his next career move.”
