United City FC suffered another defeat in the AFC Champions League, this time at the hands of Australian side Melbourne City, 3-0, Monday, April 19 in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

The 2020 Philippines Football League champions conceded a Stefan Colakovski goal in the 33rd minute before allowing the A-League holders to score twice in the second half, both courtesy of Marco Tillo.

It was a second straight setback in as many matches for United City, which dropped at the bottom of Group G.

BG Pathum United earlier stunned South Korea’s Jeonnam Dragons, 2-0, to draw level with Melbourne with four points apiece.

Melbourne, however, holds top spot due to goal difference.

UCFC was hoping to rebound from a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Jeonnam three days earlier but Colakovski broke the ice by scoring off goalkeeper Matthew Silva.

The scoreline stood until nearly the hour mark when Tillo scored inside the box to put United City behind by two goals.

Tillo completed a brace in the 75th with a shot from close range.

United City returns to action Thursday against BG Pathum United in a battle of two Southeast Asian clubs.
